One of the best ways to ensure accurate blood test results is to wash and dry your hands before testing, as unwashed hands can sometimes make a marked difference to the reading.

Each batch of test strips has a slightly different sensitivity which can affect the accuracy of the test result if the code of the test strip does not correspond to the code setting of your meter.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) strongly recommends that blood-testing devices, including lancets, should never be used more than once to prevent any chance of infection.
And even cleaning using alcohol may not sufficiently disinfect a lancet.

Reports of an allergic reaction to the lancets are extremely rare. The lancets are not silicon coated and are latex free. The lancets are made of stainless steel, approved for medical purposes. This steel contains 18 % Chromium and approximately 9 % Nickel.
